What Our Women Say

Great from the start! Maddie and the team are welcoming from the get go! They have supported me to gain confidence in weightlifting and helping with my nutrition too which is all so new to me! they are all so knowledgeable and supportive. I enjoy every session and find it accessible to me. They are great communicators (I am profoundly deaf) and ensure I am following in each session, the music isn't too loud and the groups are the perfect size. I love the fact I can watch demonstrations of the sessions in advance on the app.

Abby L [Facebook Review]

I’ve absolutely loved getting back into weightlifting. Abi has been so helpful and encouraging. I only signed up for a 7 week block of classes and now find myself booking 6 months of membership to their new gym! Amazing place!!

-  TJ Potter, 45 [Facebook Review]

Brilliant gym, extremely helpful and friendly. I have two prolapsed disc's in my lower back, and am no spring chicken, however the seven weeks of weight training with Maddie has been a real turning point in my recovery, and management of my long term back problems, forty years to be precise. Best decision ever, and a great asset for Hockley Village. Massive five stars.

FAQs

Do I need experience to join?

No. Most women start SGPT as complete beginners. Everything is taught, guided and adjusted to your level.

What if I’m anxious or self-conscious?

SGPT is specifically designed for women who feel nervous in big gyms or classes. The small group size makes it safe, calm and supportive.

Is this suitable if I’m hypermobile or have chronic pain?

Yes. We use joint-friendly, stability-focused programming with modifications for hypermobility, injuries and pain. We may need approval from your consultant or GP, but we will take you through that so you know what we need.

How many women are in a group?

Groups are capped at 5 women so you get personal attention and technique coaching.

What if I can’t make every session?

We encourage consistency, but life happens. You can rearrange times using our booking system, provided you cancel 24hrs in advance of the session. Worst-case scenario we can provide a plan for you to use in the gym; you’ll still progress and stay supported.

Is this the same as personal training?

You get expert coaching and personalised guidance, but at a fraction of the cost and with the motivation of a supportive group.

What equipment do I need?

Nothing. Everything is provided in the gym. Just bring water and comfortable clothes.

What happens after the 6-week block?

You can continue into the next SGPT block or transition into classes or the gym, your coach will guide you when you're reaching the end of your programme.
